Inn by the Sea to Host Harvest on the Harbor Gala
PORTLAND, ME, AUgust 27, 2008. Inn by the Sea’s Chef Mitchell Kaldrovich, and James Beard award winning guest chefs, Sam Hayward and David Pasternak, collaborate on a five course wine dinner for Portland’s Wine Festival Gala
Cape Elizabeth, Maine - The pinnacle food and wine experience of Portland’s Harvest on the Harbor will be prepared by Inn by the Sea’s Executive Chef Mitchell Kaldrovich with two guest chefs, James Beard award winners David Pasternak (ESCA) and Sam Hayward (Fore Street) on Saturday October 25, 2008 at Inn by the Sea. The black tie evening which wraps up Portland’s Harvest on the Harbor culinary festival, will open with a raw bar and martini reception before the three chefs collaborate on a five course gourmet meal, paired with fine wines from around the world.
Portland, a noted culinary hot spot, will celebrate Maine’s harvest over three days October 23-25, with seminars, tastings, a “foodies” market place and a choice of exquisite wine dinners prepared by renowned chefs:
• Thursday evening, October 23rd, kicks off with exclusive wine and food tasting with wineries and celebrated chefs at Portland’s Ocean Gateway.
• Friday offers seminars, cooking demonstrations and wine dinners prepared by Maine’s finest restaurants.
• Saturday events include tastings, the market place and celebrity chef demonstrations, culminating in the ultimate Maine food and wine experience, Gala by the Sea, hosted by Inn by the Sea and chef Kaldrovich.
Kaldrovich opened the new ocean view Sea Glass restaurant at the eco luxury Inn by the Sea in June after the resort completed a multi million dollar renovation. The chef adds an international flare to farm to table dining selecting produce fresh from nearby farms and the sea. Thursday evening Kaldrovich joins ten Maine chefs to prepare a sampling of Maine’s harvest cuisine, to enjoy with wines from around the world. Friday the Chef will prepare a six course dinner for the festival’s wine dinners. Each course will be paired with wine and feature the chef’s signature Gulf of Maine Seafood Paella, with Spanish Saffron Rice, Calamari, Scallops & Shrimp, and Pan Roasted Natural Pork Tenderloin, Pomegranate Reduction with Butternut Squash Puree. Saturday evening Gala by the Sea combines the expertise of Chefs Kaldrovich, Hayward and Pasternak for the ultimate five course wine dinner at Inn by the Sea.
