Design Hotels Presents the Factory Hotel
NOVEMBER 12, 2008. Opening in December 2008, the Factory Hotel is an eclectic mix of buildings located at what was once the site of the Germania Brewery in Muenster, Germany – a historic city and cultural hub of the Westphalia region. In addition to sprucing up the old brewery buildings and grounds, architect Andreas Deilmann introduced a brand-new, modern wing and transformed the entire area into a vibrant new lifestyle and entertainment quarter for travellers and locals alike.
At the heart of the complex stands the landmark-protected main brewery building, which overlooks a lake and is surrounded by restaurants, clubs and shops. The 128 guestrooms and 16 suites are all housed in the new wing, set slightly apart from the bustle of campus life so that guests are assured a quiet night’s sleep, but are never too far from the action.
All rooms feature a modern design with industrial flair that alludes to the site’s former life. Raw concrete walls are offset with warm woods and felt textiles to create a comfortable atmosphere. Each room features its own balcony, exceptionally spacious bathroom, as well as a work area.
Hotel facilities include an expansive fitness center complete with swimming pool, roof terrace, spa and personal training service. The hotel also offers nine meeting and event spaces ranging in size from 35 to 350 square meters (approx. 376 to 3,768 square feet), with an additional 500 square meter (5,382 square ft.) space under construction.
All events can be catered by one of the three on-site kitchens. The main restaurant offers fine dining and serves German and Austrian cuisine. A hybrid menu of traditional tapas and Mediterranean dishes are featured in the Spanish restaurant, while the bistro offers perennial favorites.
Once the sun sets, things heat up at the lounge bar and two on-site clubs, where guests and locals gather for drinks, music and more. The Live Club located in the refurbished brewery basin features a varied program of poetry slams, readings and live jazz, while the Night Club, spread over two levels in the renovated brewery basement, features a varying line-up of local and international DJs spinning beats until dawn.
Here, as across the entire premises, the Factory Hotel brings together seemingly contradictory elements into a unified whole: club meets landmark-protected building, industrial elements meet cozy comfort, urban life meets calm retreat – at the Factory Hotel, diverse elements are fused together to provide guests and visitors with a truly unique hotel experience.

ADC Financing - Hoteliers Have More Financing Options Than They May Think
By Bryan J. Clark, President & CEO, Lion CFC Inc
Acquisition Development/Construction financing, or ADC financing for short, has become more difficult to secure in recent months for all the obvious reasons i.e. “credit crisis,” “700B bailout plan,” etc. With everything that is happening in the marketplace (the “sub-prime mortgage meltdown,” the “residential real estate market bubble/collapse) the effect each of these is having on real estate builders stock prices as of late, this type of loan product will only get harder to find...

The Hotel Concierge: Effective Technology You Should be Using
By Leigh Anne Dolecki, Chef Concierge, Campton Place Hotel
Wow, has it really been less than 15 years since were introduced to the World Wide Web? It’s not news that modern technology has completely changed the way we live in the past ten to twenty years. At this point in my career, I can’t even imagine being a concierge without it. By nature, concierges are information junkies; many of us find this new frontier absolutely irresistible as it appeals to our sense of curiosity and problem solving...
